My Hunger Walk Personal Page

Dearest Family and Friends,

Since moving to NS I've have become a volunteer and advocate for the Northside CAIN pantry (Churches Assisting in Northside) who serve the folks in zip 45223, a struggling community indeed. There has been a 40% increase in the # of families requesting food assistance since the stay at home orders were initiated and CAIN is struggling to support the community. The Freestore Foodbank is the primary source for purchasing food items at CAIN (the foodbank also partners with 511 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and community centers in the tristate region). CAIN in conjunction with the Freestore Foodbank is having the 17th Annual (Virtual) Hunger Run/Walk on Monday, May 25th.

Anyway, I did not want to sit around that day so came up with the idea of coming home to our childhood place, College Hill to do the walk. It is 3.2 miles (or whatever length), where we would continue to social distance and wear mask but be able to walk together in this special neighborhood sharing lots of memories and stories. I want to keep it flexible and not a big commitment since it is a holiday weekend. More details would come as plans firm up. I would love your thoughts and suggestions. I suggested to Mother Mary that we could push her in a wheel chair but she rolled her eyes. For those who are not able to walk the distance we could have a meeting place for coffee and conversation.

Here is the financial scoop:

register to walk with $20 registration fee and get a friend of 2 to make donations to you
better yet, register and get more CH folks to register and walk
make a donation to Suzanne
none of the above
